Useful Cleanse Retreat Preparation Cranleigh House B&B, Devon

If you are already booked onto a cleanse retreat, it is best to be prepared. As this is an experiential retreat. The idea of doing this preparation is that by the time you come to the week itself, you will already have  gained some experience of cleansing your system and you will  have had some healing reactions (healing crises) from some of the powerful ingredients you will be taking. Douglas Morrison's book: How We Heal gives you valuable information on the healing crisis.
A 'Healing Crisis' or 'Healing Transformation' is the body/mind/spirits way of throwing off toxicity on all levels. This can take the form of headaches, fever, mucous from any oriface, rashes etc. It is a process of elimination. Very often orthodox medicine suppresses this kind of 'healing crisis'. In natural medicine we encourage this healing reaction and we believe in the body's wisdom to heal itself.

It is a good preparation for you do take some of the following (preferably all 3):
  1. Take Colloidal Minerals 20ml or more per day.
  2. Take an 8-12oz green juice per day prepared with non sweet organic vegetables such as courgettes, cucumber, celery etc.
  3. Take an Enzyme supplement.
Also it is useful to modify your diet as follows, so that you get the best results from participating in this kind of cleanse:
  1. Eat less sugar, white flour products, meat, fish, cheese and dairy products (apart from butter or yogurt), eat no margarine and minimal fried food or highly processed food.
  2. Eat more salads and raw grated vegetables, steamed vegetables, sprouted pulses, whole grain products, healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oil and hemp oil (unless you are taking anti coagulant drugs).
  3. Drink less alcohol, tea and coffee.
  4. Drink more plain water if you do not drink much already.
The length of time to do this will depend on how healthy you are and whether you have done any cleansing before. If you are coming from an average "healthy" diet and you yourself are fairly healthy  you might want to make these modifications for 2 weeks. If you have more serious health concerns you might want to make them for a month or longer, and similarly if your diet contains a large amount of processed or junk food.
